British Library Lead Public Sector in Performance Improvement with Prodacapo Corporate Performance Management Software

The British Library, one of the world's greatest research libraries has selected Prodacapo software supported by leading corporate performance management specialists, Bellis-Jones Hill Group to drive its programme of improvements in service delivery.
 
The British Library is the National library of the UK serving researchers, business libraries and the education sector in addition to the general public. Providing many services of which the general public are often not aware, it has the largest document supply service in the world and generates a value to the UK economy of 4.4 times its public funding.
 
In Spring 2004 the British Library adopted an Activity Based approach to tackling some of the business issues it faces in its current market environment. These challenges include ensuring that the processes by which services are delivered are as efficient as possible.
 
“External forces such as funding pressure and new competition have encouraged us to re-examine how we operate”, explains Finance Director, Robert Kirton. “We are witnessing a period of changing customer needs as electronic access to information exposes higher customer expectations. Businesses are demanding faster responses and often our users expect 24/7 “e-access” to information. We need to understand the true cost of delivering these services in order to ensure that we are providing our customers with the optimum range of choice and product.
