Instituut Beleid & Management Gezondheidszorg (iBMG), part of the Erasmus University, chooses Prodacapo to be used in their bachelor program

With the developments taking place in the health care sector in the Netherlands, the iBMG is always reviewing their program. The introduction of a new financing system for hospitals in the Netherlands will have a big impact to the skills and qualifications required of the managers in this industry.

The Institute of Health Policy and Management is involved in national and international research in the fields of policy and organisational sciences with a focus on health care, health economics, medical technology assessment, social medical sciences, health law and health insurance. The institute educates students for several jobs in health care varying from management functions in health care organizations to health insurance, consultancy and governmental jobs related to health care.

“At iBMG we have recognized the need for a more thorough financial basis for the health care managers of the future”, comments Dr.ir. J.J. (Joost) Zuurbier, who is responsible for the financial course of the health policy and management study programs.

He was as well very closely involved in the introduction of the new finance system for the hospitals in the Netherlands.

“In that context we want our students to become more familiar with finance related issues and challenges the health care sector and it's managers faces today. As a University we are always looking for sophisticated and up-to-date tools that can support our education”.

“In looking for a tool the following prerequisites was defined;

a, it should be easy to use
b, including features should support the changing requirement in the health care sector  and finally
c, the tool should be developed by a vendor that shows commitment to this sector.”,

continues Joost Zuurbier.

“Prodacapo is exactly what we were looking for.

A proven, intuitive, costing tool with excellent features like a simulation module, but still very user friendly - and by that easy to learn. Prodacapo is a relatively new player in the Dutch market but with Dutch customers like the Erasmus Medical Centre, GGZ Delfland, GGZ Midden-Brabant, as well as the leading and renowned child hospital Great Ormond Street Hospital in London and numerous other hospitals abroad they have shown to be committed to this sector. ”

“We are thrilled and proud of the fact that the leading institution in providing Health Policy and Management courses in the Netherlands, iBMG, has selected Prodacapo. For us it is a confirmation that our solutions perfectly fits in to the changing needs within the health care sector.” says Rickard Moestam, Acting CEO of Prodacapo.

“Since our entrance to the Benelux market we have seen an increased interest from the health care sector. This deal shows that our solutions could also perfectly be used for education purposes and we look forward assisting iBMG in developing education material.”

“We will start with using the software for 1st and 2nd year's students. If the use of Prodacapo software becomes a success it is our intention to use the software also for 3rd and 4th year's students as well as within the master programs.” adds Joost Zuurbier.
