A strategic initative with Prodacapo ABM
About
Erasmus Medical Centre (MC) is the largest University Medical Centre in the Netherlands. It employs over 10 000 employees and cares for an average of 500 000 patients per year. Erasmus MC is also the Netherland's most multi-faceted number of university hopsital disciplines in the country.
Challenge
Erasmus MC implemented Prodacapo ABM to get insight into the true costs of its services and products and thereby simplifying the pricing, negotiations and comparisons with insurers and other hospitals. Another challenge was to sophisticate the allocation of the overhead costs.
To facilitate their financial and operational scenario planning Erasmus implemented Prodacapo Planning.
"At the early phase of the project, some of the departments were quite hesitant in participating. But as soon as we were able to present the first results of our project the doubtfulness was exchanged for enthusiasm", says Paul Steinbush, project leader, Erasmus MC.
Prodacapo - more than just a software vendor
Erasmus MC chose the Prodacapo software solutions after conducting a thorough evaluation process.
"Since our first introduction to Prodacapo we have been informed, supported and trained exactly in the way you would want. This seems logical but it's not always the case with software vendors", says Paul Steinbush.
"Knowing that they are not just a software vendor but also remain committed after having sold the software is a positive signal and gives us a very comfortable feeling", concludes Paul Steinbush.
Results
Prodacapo ABM has provided Erasmus with a better understanding of their core processes, their costs, and the division of costs between patient care and activities related to research and teaching.
This enables them to cost their products and services more accurately and to identify which products sold to insurance companies are profitable or not.
It also allows them to set fair and more accurate internal prices and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
