Challenge

Reuters wanted to drive better and faster decision-making with the focus on profitable growth. To achieve this, they needed greater transparency into the business and, more specifically, into the profitability of customers and products.

 

Solution

Reuters initially made an ABC pilot project with Prodacapo. This was very successful and the project was extended to give global coverage.

 

Reuters updates the ABC information every month. Data for the update is extracted from multiple sources, such as Reuters' Siebel CRM system, their sales and installs database, their global customer database, as well as from their general ledger database. The results of the ABC calculation in Prodacapo ABC/M are presented globally in their ProClarity system, which is Reuters' reporting and analysis tool for users.

 

The ABC/M information from Prodacapo is also incorporated into the monthly internal financial reporting at Board Level, as well as across divisions and regions. It is also used to support the external segmental reporting under IFRS.

 

Results

Using Prodacapo ABC/M, Reuters has established a stronger basis for driving business decisions, and a greater and deeper accountability for generating profit.
