Measurable results with Prodacapo
About
Scania is the world's fourth largest manufacturer of heavy trucks and buses and the leading company in its industry both in terms of profitability and brand. Scania Parts Logistics in Sweden provides the global chain of Scania workshops with spare parts.
Challenge
Scania is continuously improving its business and workflow. Spare parts is one of Scania's area of competitive advantage. With a huge number of article numbers and tens of thousands of orders per day the challenge is to continuously improve workflow and customer satisfaction while at the same time reducing costs.
Scania had already started to map the core processes before they implemented Prodacapo but felt that they needed a methodology and a system to continue their process mapping.
Approach
Scania Parts Logistics decided to implement Prodacapo. Three months later they had identified, mapped and costed their processes and activities and started up a number of ABC-pilot projects at their main spare part warehouse.
The analysis provided Scania with information about which improvements would provide the highest benefits.
Results
Scania improved its operations and made cost savings equal to 2 MEUR in just a few weeks!
The project also resulted in an increased level of commitment to making improvements within the organization. Cost focus and workflow are now tools for increasing the client satisfaction.
