Smith & Nephew in Australia implements Prodacapo ABC/M

ABM Systems, the Prodacapo partner in Australia, have signed a contract with Smith & Nephew regarding supply of the Prodacapo ABC/M solution and consulting services.

The Smith & Nephew Group develops, manufactures and markets sophisticated medical devices. Employing over 7,000 personnel, the Group has operations in 34 countries. In Australia, Smith & Nephew operates four business units that market innovative products and services across Australia to a large and diverse healthcare focussed customer base.

Management of Smith & Nephew's Healthcare Division in Australia have chosen to implement the Prodacapo solution for Activity Based Costing (ABC) to enhance their understanding of product and customer linked profitability, and to facilitate improved management of work flow.

The ABC-method has been proven to generate more reliable product costing information than traditional allocation methods, and to make it possible to analyse customer and channel profitability. Furthermore, ABC output data and process mapping supports improved commercial decision making by focusing managers on major cost drivers, and the underlying activities and outputs, that explain workload and highlight capacity, effectiveness and efficiency levels. The ultimate goal that Smith & Nephew is looking to achieve is to secure an improved service model to better meet the needs of its broad range of customers.
